School Safety and Security

Immaculate Heart of Mary School recognizes the importance of school safety and security.

As such, we abide by and have impletmented the following safety and security best practices:

~We have a strong collaboration with the Belmont Police Department, which includes a dedicated School Resource Officer who plays an integral role in maintaining the safety and security of our campus. The School Resource Officer’s key responsibilities include conducting regular patrols, working with students and staff to ensure a secure environment, enforcing laws on campus, monitoring for solicitors, handling any violations that occur, providing support at school events, providing training to school personnel, and educating students.

~We have up-to-date installed security cameras all over the school campus providing expanded coverage of both indoor and outdoor areas while ensuring comprehensive campus security.

~We utilize a sign-in/sign-out system tracking all visitors.

~Our teachers and staff are fully trained in CPR, First Aid, AED usage, and the San Mateo County Big 5 Protocols: Shelter in Place; Earthquake Preparedness, Secure Campus, Lockdown/Barricade, and Evacuation. Our school is fully committed to executing the San Mateo County Big 5 Protocol which guides our school in the development of safety procedures and emergency response plans. These efforts ensure a safe campus environment while building positive relationships between students, faculty, staff, and law enforcement.
